Pharmacy in Tel Aviv Faces Angry Customer’s Rage as Pharmacist is Attacked in Queue

A pharmacist was assaulted at a pharmacy located in the Dizingoff Center in Tel Aviv after a customer allegedly broke the partition between the pharmacist and the customers due to frustration over the long queue, resulting in the pharmacist being slightly injured. The pharmacist was taken to Ichilov Hospital, and the suspect, a 24-year-old Kiryat Motzkin resident, was arrested by police officers of Lev Station in Tel Aviv and taken in for questioning. David Pepo, the chairman of the Pharmacists Association, stated that they will not allow pharmacies to become a battleground and called on the Ministry of Health to establish significant legislation that would deter and prevent potential violent incidents from occurring, thus allowing medical staff to work in a protected environment. Super-Pharm expressed shock and condemned the incident, citing that this event is another example of the escalating violence towards pharmacy staff, doctors, and health fund employees, which is an unacceptable reality.

A pharmacist was attacked today (Friday) at a pharmacy in the Dizingoff Center in Tel Aviv. This, after a customer allegedly broke the partition between the pharmacist and the customers due to anger over the existing queue and hurt the pharmacist.

As a result of the attack, the pharmacist was slightly injured and was taken to Ichilov Hospital. The suspect, a 24-year-old resident of Kiryat Motzkin, was arrested by police officers of Lev Station in Tel Aviv and taken in for questioning.

The chairman of the Pharmacists Association, David Pepo, said in response: “We will not allow the pharmacies to become a battlefield. This case joins many cases of severe violence with a real danger to the lives of pharmacies and pharmacists. We repeat and call on the Ministry of Health to initiate significant legislation that will deter and prevent the next case of violence, and allow the members of the medical staff to do their work in a protected environment, both in the health funds and in the private pharmacies.”

Super-Pharm said: “We are shocked by a case of severe violence against a dedicated and respected pharmacist. Unfortunately, this case is another serious incident in the daily dealing with the increasingly escalating violence directed towards the pharmacy staff, and towards the doctors and staff in the hospitals and health funds. This is a reality that cannot be accepted.”
