Highly diluted globules are nothing but sugar, but so far they have been subject to pharmacy regulations as medicinal products.

The Federal Association of Pharmacy Students calls for an end to the special rules that allow the sale of globules as supposedly effective medicines.

IThey have a prominent place in almost all of the approximately 18,000 pharmacies in Germany: Homeopathic and anthroposophic remedies have often been advertised as effective medicines and sold without any explanation that the highly diluted preparations have no demonstrable effect beyond a placebo effect. While doctors are turning their backs and the German Doctors’ Day 2022 removed the additional designation homeopathy from the model further training regulations, the pharmacists have so far stuck to the funds. Thomas Benkert, head of the Federal Chamber of Pharmacists, is a homeopathic supporter. He doesn’t always tell customers that their effect hasn’t been proven, he told the ARD magazine “Contrasts”. “Then I can’t get out of the consultation at all.”

Just as the students are demanding reforms from the medical profession – their federal association warned in 2020, for example, that the pharmacy requirement for the drugs was “a deception and thus a potential danger” for patients – the Federal Association of Pharmacy Students has now positioned itself clearly: in a paper he describes the homeopathy invented by the doctor Samuel Hahnemann over 200 years ago as unscientific and calls for an end to special legal rules that allow approval without proof of effectiveness. The association is also calling for an end to the obligation to have pharmacies, and the professional political bodies should also support this goal – so far they had campaigned for their preservation.
