Phil Foden will not play the second day of qualifying for Euro 2024 with England against Ukraine this Sunday at 6 p.m., due to an appendicitis operation.

England striker Phil Foden will not be on the scoresheet to face Ukraine in qualifying for Euro-2024 on Sunday after undergoing appendicitis surgery in the morning, the federation announced.

“England coach Gareth Southgate did not call a replacement, which means that he has 20 players available after the withdrawal (on injury, editor’s note) of Reece James and the suspension of Luke Shaw“, specifies the FA.

Chelsea defender Reece James returned to his club after the 2-1 victory in Italy on Thursday, where he played the last minutes. If the exact nature of his injury has not been specified, several English-language media have mentioned a hamstring injury, in a season already largely marred by knee problems.
