On 6 April it comes out in American bookstores Philip Roth: The Biography (W. W. Norton & Co.), the long-awaited biography of the great novelist who passed away in 2018, signed by Blake Bailey. Here a path into the bonds that spanned Roth’s life. From Sunday 4 April in“Reading” App one is available special extra on Roth, which includes Costanza Rizzacasa d’Orsogna’s interview with biographer Bailey (from Monday 5 also here). In the later years of his life, Philip Roth and Mia Farrow often met at the West Street Grill restaurant in Litchfield, Connecticut. In Connecticut, and in a restaurant, they met 30 years earlier. Their first meeting was a quick chat at the table where the writer and then partner, then second wife, Claire Bloom were seated. Over time they would becomei support each other in their most difficult times. “Have you ever been married – Roth liked to say jokingly to his friend – maybe between your marriage to Sinatra and your marriage to Previn?” In 2013, ten years after the troubled end of his relationship with Woody Allen, Roth wrote Mia Farrow not to let that story come back to destroy her life.
