After Bologna in 1911, Naples in 1924 and Venice in 1958, Rome will host the World Philosophy Congress for the first time at the end of July 2024. In the next three years it will be preceded by a series of meetings, seminars and preparatory events that will bring together the most brilliant cultural and academic forces of our country at the center of the international philosophical – social debate.

Since the first congress in 1900 that was held in Paris on the occasion of the Universal Exposition, it is the first time, in 125 years, that the Congress has been held in Rome, the fourth time for our country, a unique case in the world, a clear sign of recognition by the international philosophical community of the importance of the contribution che Italy has given and can give within the global philosophical debate.

A an important result for Italy which gave birth to some of the best minds ever, for the Italian Philosophical Society, founded in 1906 to promote philosophical debate and disseminate philosophy to civil society, but above all to act as a link between the university and the school, and for theto Sapienza which is confirmed as a privileged place in which to build and nurture intellectual reflection and critical thinking.

The world congresses of philosophy concern all the great questions of life, the future, shared values, the great questions of man, peaceful coexistence, how to give a future to the new generations, how to enhance the new generations, but also the environment. and sustainability.

“There is more – declares the Secretary of the Italian Philosophy Society, Professor Francesca Gambetti, who teaches at the Roma Tre University – gathering together the elite of the academic environment of all the federated countries, it is essential to have a political investiture and to be cautious in respecting the customs and formulas of communication and courtesy and the ceremonials that in each country are very special. A unique experience, truly global and of great importance, because other disciplines such as sociology, bioethics, economics, the theme of rights also revolve around philosophy. In short, we walk on eggs and we must not offend other people’s sensibilities ”.
