Time.news – The telephone conversation between the American and Russian presidents, Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin lasted 50 minutes. This was announced by the White House. The call began at 8.35pm GMT, a White House official from Wilmington, Delaware, where Biden is on New Year’s Eve, said.

This is the second confrontation between the two leaders since the beginning of the month. The first, via video conference, was held on 7 December. In the meantime, Moscow has published a list of requests to NATO and the US to obtain what it considers the necessary guarantees for its security, starting with the limitation of the role of the Atlantic Alliance in Ukraine and throughout the former Soviet space.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled that the meeting was Putin’s initiative. The purpose of the conversation, Peskov himself specified before it began, was to “reach a compromise” on Ukraine and more generally on Russian security guarantees.
