A government expects “before Sunday”
The new Prime Minister Michel Barnier issued on Friday evening the “completed definition and summary” of his government to Emmanuel Macron, which must be presented “before Sunday”, according to Matignon, while waiting for the green light from High Authority for Transparency in Public Life (HATVP).
An executive composed of members of the presidential camp
The first group presented on Wednesday by Michel Barnier must include 16 full-time ministers, including ten from the Presidential camp (Together for the Republic, Horizons, MoDem) and three Liberals (LR). Among the names, appears that of Bruno Retailleau who will replace Gérald Darmanin in the Interior.
On the side of the Macronists, the outgoing MoDem European Minister Jean-Noël Barrot should be proposed for Foreign Affairs, and the outgoing Minister of Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu should be re-elected.
While Michel Barnier is struggling to find left-wing figures, from whom he has suffered many rejections, only a different left-wing figure appears among these full-time ministers. The name of Didier Migaud, the current President of HATPP and from the PS, is circulating for Justice.
Call for mobilization this Saturday
Student, regional and feminist groups and organizations have called for new rallies on Saturday September 21 against the “Macron-Barnier government”. Among the words are the fight for salaries and pensions, living and training conditions, the “acceptance of dignity” of immigration, the “real plan of the fight” against rapist and sexual violence or again the rights of women and LGBT+ people.
