Time.news – The framework of Pablo Picasso “The woman sitting near a window (Marie-Therese)” was auctioned by Christie’s in New York for $ 103.4 million (€ 85 million). This was announced by the auction house. The painting, finished in 1932, has as protagonist Marie-Thérèse, the young woman defined as the muse and lover by the Spanish painter.

The painting had only been purchased eight years ago for $ 44.8 million, less than half the price at which it has now been resold.

Picasso spent the second part of his life in France where during his tumultuous marriage with Olga Khokhlova, he began his relationship with the seventeen-year-old Marie-Thérèse Walter, the protagonist of many of his most famous works.
