Piedras Negras Transit applies 60 fines per day for speeding

PIEDRAS NEGRAS, COAH.- The Traffic and Highway Department in the Piedras Negras City Hall, applies an average of 60 fines per day for violating speed limits in the different streets and avenues.

Sonia Carolina Diego Vazquezhead of the department, mentioned that the greater the population, the number of vehicles that circulate through the different avenues and the number of drivers who do not respect the speed limits increases.

“In Piedras Negras there are more residents who drive at speed than visitors, therefore, on average, around 60 infractions are applied per day”he commented.

He said that it has been detected that most of the local residents are driving at excessive speed, while visitors from Texas are more law-abiding.

He stressed that other strategies that are applied so that motorists respect speed limits is the Operative Carousel, which consists of a patrol car with a turret driving along the high-speed lane at the limit indicated, and this is applied during times of increased vehicular traffic.
