Social Media Couple Piero Armenti and Martina Maceratesi Clarify Italy Return Plans

A planned move back to Italy, specifically the Marche region, by social media personalities Piero Armenti and Martina Maceratesi was revealed as a joke, disappointing many followers who had anticipated their return. Armenti, the founder of the travel agency ‘My trip to New York,’ clarified the situation in a recent post, walking back earlier announcements of a permanent relocation after years living in New York City.

Initial Excitement and Subsequent Doubt

The initial announcement sparked considerable debate among Armenti and Maceratesi’s extensive online following. Many expressed skepticism, suggesting a departure from their successful life in New York seemed improbable. “The doubt was there,” one follower commented, “it almost seemed impossible to leave a fairytale life and full of successes in the Big Apple.” However, others embraced the idea, extending well wishes for the couple’s potential new chapter in Italy.

The revealing post itself garnered significant engagement, receiving over 4,000 “likes” and nearly 1,200 comments as of 4:30 pm on the Facebook page – numbers expected to rise given the couple’s substantial social media presence: over 3 million followers on Facebook and 584,686 on Instagram. Some observers noted the continued fully furnished state of the couple’s New York residence as a clue that a move was unlikely. “No doubts it had arisen because the house was still fully furnished and decorated,” a user observed. Others expressed frustration at being misled.

Continuing Life in New York and Christmas Plans

Despite the clarification regarding a permanent move, Armenti and Maceratesi continue to actively share their lives in New York with their audience. Recent posts have focused on the Christmas season, showcasing shopping trips, holiday decorations, and updates on the weather. They’ve even playfully discussed longing for Italian comfort food to combat the New York cold. “It’s very cold in New York – Martina explains in a video on Instagram – my hands are freezing; it’ll be minus 10 degrees more or less, we’ve put on thermal socks and a thermal shirt,” she shared. Armenti added, “And this is just the beginning – in January and February I want to laugh.”

The couple is, however, preparing for a temporary return to Italy for the Christmas holidays. “Tomorrow we will leave for Italy,” Martina announced in a recent video, adding that arrangements are in place for the care of their real Christmas tree. The couple confirmed they will not be traveling directly to the Marche region, Martina’s home, but will first make a stop in Salerno.

The incident highlights the complex relationship between social media personalities and their audiences, and the potential for misinterpretation when announcements are made online. While the dream of a permanent return to Italy may not be immediate, Armenti and Maceratesi are still set to spend the Christmas season in their homeland.
