The Haitian striker was an integral part of the Greens’ qualification for the Champions League, but according to a report in the Serbian ‘Sportal Blic’, precisely one team familiar to the Israeli champion was interested in the player.
According to the Serbian website, Piero was offered to Haifa’s opponent in the playoffs, Red Star Belgrade, but the Serbians preferred to give up the striker because they thought it was not the right solution and that he would create “compressions” in the front along with Alexander Katai, Mirko Ivanić and Osman Bukari.
“The fact that he is not mobile and has a profile similar to that of Milan Pavkov, made the Red-Whites turn to other solutions that led Piero to Haifa – where he completely exploded,” it was claimed in Serbia.
They also added that after the match, the Maccabi Haifa players celebrated wildly andPiero Passing through ‘Mix Zone’, he stopped in front of the Serbian journalists, to whom he confirmed that talks took place this summer, but he did not receive a “yes” from the star. According to the report, the Green striker told the Serbian journalists with a smile: “There was an opportunity in the summer, you had me. It was not my decision.”
