Passengers who fled could be prosecuted

Witnesses say they saw two other passengers inside the vehicle who fled after the impact. According to their descriptions, the two men on the run would be in their twenties, European for one, African for the other. We still do not know the reasons why these two alleged passengers would have taken to their heels, not providing assistance to the injured. This exposes them to criminal proceedings, such as failure to assist a person in danger.

At the wheel of the Renault Megane was a pregnant woman, accompanied by her brother and her child. A 6-year-old boy who was allegedly thrown from the car. It was then that a third car, a Renault Twingo, appeared and hit the woman’s vehicle, without too much gravity. Its driver, an 80-year-old man, left his car at the scene to return home before a crew went to his home to order him to return to the scene of the accident. Not being immediately taken care of by the rescue workers busy extricating the other victims trapped in their cars, this driver had chosen to leave.

In total, around twenty firefighters from the surrounding fire and rescue centers as well as three medical teams from the Samu (Melun, Fontainebleau and Nemours) intervened on the spot to extricate the victims, including the comedian, carcasses of tangled cars. Three helicopters, from Civil Security, Samu and the National Gendarmerie, carried out emergency medical evacuations. Pierre Palmade was airlifted to Bicêtre hospital, the pregnant woman to Beaujon in Clichy-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine) and the child to Necker in Paris. The driver of the third car, slightly injured, was evacuated by road to the Sud Île-de-France hospital group in Melun. The intervention, very technical and delicate, due to the critical condition of the victims, lasted more than two hours.
