jpnn.com – EAST LAMPUNG – Constitutional Law Observer from the University of Lampung Yusdiyanto assessed that it would be a shame for the people of East Lampung if the PDI Perjuangan did not nominate a pair of regional head candidates in the 2024 Pilkada.
The reason is, the public will only choose between an empty box and a single candidate supported by the KIM Plus coalition.
According to Yusdiyanto, PDIP previously did not allow itself to nominate a regional head candidate pair. Because the number of seats it obtained for the Lamtim DPRD in the 2024 Election did not meet the minimum requirements.
However, PDIP’s opportunities are now open with the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling which lowered the threshold requirements for regional head nominations.
PDIP was recorded as the party with the second most seats after PKB in the 2024 East Lampung DPRD Election. PKB has 12 seats while PDIP has 8 seats.
Before the Constitutional Court’s ruling, the requirement to nominate a candidate for the Lamtim Pilkada was a minimum of ten seats. Now, the Constitutional Court has decided that the threshold for nominating a candidate for the Lamtim Pilkada is a minimum of 7.5 percent of the votes from the election.
Unfortunately, PDIP has not yet announced a candidate to challenge Ella Nuryamah who is being supported by KIM Plus.
Meanwhile, registration for prospective regional head candidate pairs will be opened by the KPU in each region on August 27-29.
It would be a shame for the people of East Lampung if the PDI Perjuangan did not nominate a regional head candidate.
