Regarding the illegal casinos, the president of the EEEP noted that the independent Authority will recommend to the Ministry of Finance that they remain in operation through a temporary license, until the tender for the granting of a final license takes place. And this with the aim, among other things, of players not turning to illegal gambling. During the past financial year, EEEP showed, annually, a 19.8% increase in turnover, to 17.5 million euros, and a 19.4% increase in profits, to 13.37 million euros. The main volume (97%) of the revenue, as explained by the head of the Authority, comes from the profit ratio (GGR) of the providers, from fees and from administrative fees. The main reasons for the increase in revenue are the end of the restrictive measures for the pandemic, which resulted in the increase in the revenue of the terrestrial network providers, the certifications for the licensing of the online providers and the fitness licenses for the casino staff.
