The Youth Authority of Kuwait has formulated plans to attract indigenous youth to the private sector. As part of this, the authorities have directed to make work experience in the private sector compulsory for young people applying for government jobs.

The Public Authority for Youth has issued a directive that one must work in the private sector before seeking employment in the government sector. To this end, the Authority is preparing to launch a youth employment platform by integrating the private and public sectors. “The youth of the country will be given the necessary steps and incentives to choose the fields of employment they want and to get the best pay and benefits in the private labor market itself,” he said. Mishal al-Rabeei said.

He was speaking at various governments in the country. He said the scheme would seek to provide higher paying jobs to the youth in the private sector than those provided by government agencies. Meanwhile, Abir al-Duaij, acting undersecretary of the Civil Service Commission, suggested that the training period for young people who want to work in the private sector should be increased from 92 days to six months.
