McLeansville, NC – As winter’s grip stubbornly persists, a little bit of green is coming to North Carolina. A free program designed to nurture both plants and spirits is taking root at the Keeley Park Community Garden Greenhouse, offering a welcome respite from the gray days.

Free Program Offers Seed-Starting Skills

Learning to grow your own vegetables, even from tiny seeds, is surprisingly accessible. The Keeley Park Community Garden Greenhouse will host “Vegetable Seed-Starting 101,” a free workshop geared toward beginners and anyone curious about the plant world.

The workshop invites participants to transform minuscule seeds into thriving vegetable plants. Attendees will delve into crucial aspects of seed starting, including selecting the right seeds, choosing appropriate substrates and containers, understanding lighting requirements, and mastering correct watering and fertilization techniques—all explained in a stress-free environment.

Learn, Laugh, and Sow

Perhaps the most anticipated part of the workshop is the opportunity for each participant to sow their own seeds and take home a small kit of spring vegetables. It’s a simple gesture, yet powerfully symbolic—a tiny seed representing hope and new beginnings.

Beyond the practical skills, the meeting promises laughter, connection, and the unique sense of well-being that comes from interacting with nature. Sometimes, getting your hands dirty is remarkably therapeutic.
