The ban on single-use plastic products will take effect in Abu Dhabi tomorrow. There will be restrictions on the use of plastic bags, including in supermarkets. At the same time, some plastic products, including those stored in pharmacies, have been exempted from the ban.

In Abu Dhabi, restrictions are being put in place to gradually reduce the consumption of disposable plastic products and promote recyclables. Plastic bags cannot be used for all products, including supermarkets. The ban does not apply to pharmacy storage bags, vegetable rolls, and plastic containers for meat, fish, grains and bread. There will also be no ban on fashion, electronic gadgets, toys, waste bags, postal covers, plastic covers for magazines and newspapers.

The ban will apply to groceries. There will also be inspections in shops to ensure a plastic ban. In Dubai, meanwhile, single-use plastic bags will be charged 25 fils from July 1, officials said.
