The online hypermarket “Utkonos” will sell ready-made meals through micromarkets (a kind of vending machines). This was reported to “Vedomosti” by its development director Mikhail Chasovnikov. This information was confirmed by Gleb Kharitonov, founder of Briskly, which will supply Utkonos with equipment. At the first stage, the company will install eight such machines: they will appear in business centers and on the territory of residential complexes in Moscow, says Chasovnikov. According to him, if the experiment is successful, Utkonos is ready to increase the network to 100 points or more.
Utkonos was founded by Sergei Razumov in 2000. Now the online retailer is owned by Novy Impulse-50, which is owned by Alexei Mordashov’s Severgroup. According to Data Insight for 2020, it ranks 8th among online stores with a 5.8% share. According to the results of the last year, the company’s sales amounted to 16.4 billion rubles, which is 66% more than in 2019. At the same time, the net loss for this period increased by 34.3% to 3.9 billion rubles.
