London: Wimbledon has relaxed its dress code, allowing tennis players to wear undershorts in a variety of colours.

One of the oldest Grand Slam tournaments in the world, the Wimbledon tennis tournament has been held since 1877. Initially, the competition was held only in the men’s category. Later, since 1884, competitions have been held in the women’s category as well. It is the only Grand Slam tennis tournament played on grass. The grass in this ground is maintained to a height of 8 mm.

In all other tennis tournaments, players can wear any color. But for Wimbledon, there is a rule to wear only white.

Players have long been concerned that this rule will make them feel stressed when they have to play during their periods. In this case, the All England Club, which hosts Wimbledon, has relaxed the dress code. Now players can wear dark colored under shorts. The all-white dress code has been lifted.

Wimbledon chief executive Sally Bolton said: “We are ready to do what the athletes say they need to do to show their best on the field. We listen to their voices. We have reached a consensus between the players, the Wimbledon competition partners and the management team to relax the dress code. “Women playing at Wimbledon from next year can wear undershorts in any color other than white if they want. We hope that the relaxation of the rules will help the players focus on the game and show more talent.”

Manchester City Football Women’s team recently relaxed their dress code. The women’s team was ordered not to wear white under-shorts.
