Dutch fans of the football comedy series Ted Lasso see a recognizable club pass in the latest episode: Ajax. The Amsterdam club plays a practice match against AFC Richmond in the series and did not let it pass unnoticed. Ajax left a life-size banner hanging on a well-known pub from the series in London.
Serial Ted Lasso (shown on Apple TV +) is about the fictional Premier League club AFC Richmond, a club that has some things in common with Ajax. Richmond and Amsterdam share the same area code 020 and both clubs have AFC in their name (officially it is AFC Ajax).
On a canvas of 4 by 4 meters, on the facade of The Crown & Anchor, a well-known London pub from the series, Ajax shares a message in the style and language of the series, which enjoys great popularity and is in the process of its third season. The experiences of American football coach Ted Lasso, who more or less accidentally gets lost in the Premier League, led to several Emmy Awards and an official visit from the cast to US President Joe Biden.
