Fans of mobile games and cool gadgets will no doubt have seen the comments on Playdate that aired last week. Panic’s great console is a celebration of simpler game times and we were lucky enough to get one game early – we I found it to be a delightful little yellow system. It’s a game that takes us back “to a time when affordable video games were a simpler and more innocent pastime, and each new experience felt fresh and exciting.”

In addition to the new games that come loaded with it, Playdate is also an open platform with developers of all sizes able to create and distribute software that is easily downloaded for it. One of these programs is Playnote StudioA neat little app for anyone who’s been missing out on the incredibly simple animation tool for the Nintendo DSi, Flip Note Studio.

While Nintendo’s animation app may not be available for download these days, you can watch short Flipbook-style masterpieces created with Flipnote Studio on Playdate using the James Daniel developer software. The app is based on a previous web player app and uses a controller arm to allow you to run back and forth through the frames of the animation.

Nintendo’s Flipnote apps have attracted a dedicated and enthusiastic following and continue to evoke passions to this day. A prank in April 2020 led to the Switch’s release of “Leaked” massive amounts of fan outrage aimed at stretching. In the same year, one fan was revealed an amazing 34 minutes of carefully created animation from Flipnote Studio 3D, the 3DS version. Yes, it’s dedication, right there!

You can contact playnote.studio Learn more about how to download the app on Playdate and enjoy Flipnotes as you wish.

Download the app to our Playdate? What if you’re not in Distribution Group 1?” Oh, while we may have one game date on Nintendo Lite Towers, some of us on Team NL have way too long to wait for our personal game dates to ship. In the meantime, we’ll download the app and get it ready, ready and waiting to go through some selected comments.
