Even in the current generation of consoles, Sony and Microsoft will present game consoles with upgraded hardware to customers.
According to the report, developers have already received new development kits for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles with upgraded hardware. This may indicate that the console manufacturers are expected to launch a mid-term update for the current generation of consoles they have won, which at least in Sony’s case has been dubbed the PlayStation 5 Pro.
This joins the leak of the screen manufacturer TCL, which in a presentation it held a few months ago stated that the two manufacturers will release strengthened versions of their game consoles in 2023/2024.
This is not a new practice. As you may remember, also in the generation of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, upgraded versions called PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X were introduced that were equipped with reinforced hardware and supported improved graphics and the presentation of games in high resolution 4K and/or at a higher frame rate.
