series Xiaomi Note 12 It was announced for the Chinese market already in October 2022 when it was launched to the global market this month. Some of the devices in the series are Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 in the version 4G and in the version 5G. The first thought that comes to mind when you see the names of the devices, is that all the difference is only in the cellular connectivity, whether it is 4G or 5G. But Xiaomi differentiated the devices in several parameters.
Let’s start with the display of the devices which is the same between the two devices as both come with a 6.67 inch AMOLED screen. In addition, the screens have a resolution of 1080×2400, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a pixel density of 395ppi, Gorilla Glass 3 and a maximum brightness of 1200nits.
The physical size of the devices is different, but with very small differences, with the 5G version measuring 165.9×76.2 mm and the 4G version measuring 165.7×76 mm. The 4G version is slightly thinner and lighter with a thickness of 7.9 mm with a weight of 183.5 grams and the thickness of the 5G version is 8 mm with a weight of 188 grams.
One of the essential differences between the two versions comes from the processors. Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 5G comes with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor and the Adreno 619 graphics processor while the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 4G comes with the Snapdragon 685 processor along with the Adreno 610 graphics processor.
In terms of operating memories and storage volumes, both come in configurations of 4/128, 6/128, 8/128 gigabytes and both have room for increasing the storage volumes by adding a memory card.
Another difference between the two versions comes in the shooting setup. The photography setup is the same between the two versions except for a change in the main camera. Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 5G comes with a 48-megapixel primary camera while Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 4G comes with a 50-megapixel camera. The two additional cameras are identical and are 8 megapixels for wide shots and 2 megapixels for macro shots. The selfie cameras are the same and are of 13 megapixels with an aperture key of f/2.5.
Another difference in the photography setup is the flash, where the 5G version has a double LED flash, 2 tones while the 4G has a normal single flash.
All the other data is the same between the two versions when both have a standard headphone jack, compliance with the IP53 standard against dust and water splashes, a 5,000 mAh battery with 33 watt wired charging and a fingerprint reader embedded in the power button on the side of the device.
