Thursday 30 November the new episode of the second season of the TV series with Alessandro Gassmann, Claudia Pandolfi and Nicolas Maupas. What happens in the new episodes (watch out for spoilers)

The professor that all students would like. A man who, not only from the teacher’s desk, tries to help his students become adults, passionate and involved in the world around them, because – as he often repeats – no one must be left behind. Alessandro Gassmann returns on Thursday 30 November on Rai 1 with the new episodes of the second season of A professor in the role of Dante Balestra (here are the other series coming out this week). The second chapter of the series consists of 12 episodes, two every Thursday, which are inspired by the thoughts of a great philosopher, from Socrates to Plato, from Kant to Nietzsche, who helps the students of the current 4B of the Leonardo da Vinci high school to solve everyday problems.

Previews of the second evening On the second evening of Un Professore broadcast on Thursday 30 November, two episodes will be broadcast: Heidegger, authentic existence and Davide Hume, beauty. In the first Floriana, Anita and Dante will find themselves living under the same roof, facing the embarrassments of the situation. Viola, Nicola’s daughter, will agree to enroll at the Leonardo Da Vinci high school, after listening to Dante’s words, in an impromptu event in the hotel. Simone, however, will be summoned to the presidency and questioned about Ernesto’s attack: his friends testified that shortly before he had had a fight with him in the gym. And right in the hospital, where he goes to visit Ernesto, Dante meets a doctor friend with whom he shares the results of his tests.

In the second episode Simone, suspended for ten days, confesses to Dante the truth about the attack on Ernesto and Mimmo’s involvement. A particular liking is born between Viola and Rayan, but at a party the girl gets jealous and the next day she decides not to go back to school. That school where her father accidentally meets Manuel and begins to suspect the bond that unites them. Meanwhile, the attraction between Manuel and Nina grows stronger and the girl makes him an important confession. Mimmo, however, finds himself faced with an important choice: his partner, Molosso, orders him to complete a mission outside prison.

The cast of Un Professore 2 In the second season all the characters most loved by the public return: Alessandro Gassmann takes up the role of Dante Balestra, a brilliant yet unconventional philosophy professor; Claudia Pandolfi Anita, Manuel’s mother (Damiano Gavino) and Dante’s new love. Nicolas Maupas Simone, the son Dante had with his ex-wife, Floriana (Christiane Filangieri). We then find an extraordinary Pia Engleberth in the role of Virginia, Dante’s mother and Simone’s grandmother. Among the new faces, Domenico Cuomo who plays Mimmo; Thomas Trabacchi as Nicola, a successful manager and Anita’s old acquaintance; Alice Lupparelli who plays her daughter Viola; Khadim Faye/Rayan and Margherita Aresti/Nina.

Historical figures and new students Alongside Simone, Dante’s son, model student and lover of rugby, we find Manuel, Anita’s son, the companion and best friend that we would all like: a boy of great intelligence, capable of carrying out all the wrong choices to protect the people he loves. And again Laura, Simone’s first girlfriend and sincere friend, at the center of an argument and a beating that will change the course of the first episodes.

Among the new entries is Nina, a girl of Slavic origins, who excels in mathematics and loves literature, but hides a complicated life (she has a son, who was taken from her and entrusted to a community); Rayan, a promising footballer who arrived from Africa, is more interested in football than in studying; Viola, Nicola’s daughter, who after a car accident was paralyzed in her lower limbs and closed herself off; Mimmo (the Cardiotrap of Mare Fuori), Dante’s former student who ended up in a juvenile prison, now entrusted in semi-freedom to the school library.

The plot of the series: a review of the previous episodes Charming and unconventional, Dante Balestra is a separated father who has returned to Rome after years to take care of his son Simone (Nicolas Maupas, former protagonist of Mare Fuori), who he will find again in his class when his ex-wife, Floriana decides to move to Glasgow for a period. A son who is difficult to re-conquer after years of silence, with whom he also faces the issue of homosexuality. Even with the help – already in the first series – of the words of Michel Foucault, philosopher and sociologist capable of enlightening Western thought, who died of AIDS at the age of 57 in a hospital in Paris: an example capable of making students reflect on the theme of diversity and contempt for others that poison.

Simone’s delicate coming out, told in the first season with a kiss to Manuel (unlike what happens between the protagonists of the Catalan series Merl from which A Professor is based) does not call into question a friendship, but strengthens it. Without forgetting to bring into prime time complex issues such as bullying, sexuality, drugs, the desire for easy money, disappointments in love (think of Luna, cheerful and extroverted, who becomes engaged to a boy who turns out to be the son of professor Franco De Angelis, who will leave it after finding work in another city).

The themes of A Professor: philosophy, love, life Professor Dante often confuses his private life with his professional life, losing his head for the mothers of his students. Among them Anita, single mother of Manuel, the boy with whom her son Simone fell in love, with whom she is united by a secret that comes from the past: as we discover at the end of the first season, through a series of flashbacks, Anita and Dante met years earlier in hospital on the night of the death of Jacopo, Simone’s twin brother, who passed away at the age of three.

Translator and interpreter, employed part-time at a bookshop with an always precarious economic situation, Anita is the most messed up of women, capable of making her way into the professor’s heart and making him get his head straight. Evicted at the beginning of the second season, she moves to live with him, Manuel and Simone in the villa of Dante’s ex-wife. Only to find herself having to deal – expect shocks – with the return of Floriana and Nicola (Thomas Trabacchi), a man linked to her past with whom she had a relationship years earlier, and with an important discovery regarding Dante. Just when he, in the most unlikely of love stories, had found the key to facing her past.

Professor Dante’s lesson The most important lessons, the series reminds us, life does not only grant on the desks, but also in a park outside school. In an en plein air explanation, in front of a sandwich stand outside the prison (in the second season), or inside the Colosseum to explain the meaning of freedom (I brought you here to talk about justice and injustice, but above all about the abuse of freedom and its consequences, in light of what happened at the party. I will do this by using the thoughts of a philosopher I love very much, Rousseau. He says that all human beings, individually, are free, but must respect the rules. Now I I ask myself: is it possible to be free with rules to observe? I ask you this question in light of the ‘school party stunt’. In your opinion, can what you have done be considered true freedom?, explains the teacher in the first season, in a scene that is difficult to forget).

The Catalan Merl series For fans of the series it is not a mystery. A Professor, the Italian adaptation of the Catalan television series Merl, written by Hctor Lozano and directed by Eduard Corts (three seasons and 40 episodes). Merl stars Francesc Orella as Merl Bergeron, a philosophy professor who encourages his students to think freely through unorthodox methods that divide students, teachers and families.

The memory of D’AlatriThe first season of A Professor was directed by Alessandro D’Alatri, who passed away at the age of 68 on 3 May 2023 after a long illness. The second bears the signature of Alessandro Casale.

The soundtrack Not even a detail is the soundtrack that accompanies the drama, even in the second season: Spazio Tempo by Francesco Gabbani, who collaborated with Pacifico for the text. A song that plays with the happiness that some situations cause us, in an unexpected way, a bit Albachiara and a bit My Way. Ultimately, life is nothing more than an appointment, a perpetual beat that lasts a moment, because everyday reality is made up of emotions. In the second season we will also hear Give me a kiss, Ja’, written by Leo Gassmann, Alessandro’s son, which tells of a love that changes over time, but remains eternal.
