Taylor Swift Concert Attack in Austria
On August 9th, 2024, a deadly attack took place at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna, Austria. Police have arrested and questioned three people suspected of plotting the attack.
The suspects are accused of planning an attack at the Taylor Swift concert in Vienna. According to the country’s Interior Minister Gerhard Corner, foreign intelligence agencies helped uncover the plot.
The event organizers canceled three concerts that were scheduled to take place in Vienna from Thursday to Saturday.
Investigators discovered a stockpile of chemicals, explosives, detonators, and counterfeit cash worth €21,000 at the home of the main suspect, a 19-year-old ISIS supporter. The suspect was arrested in the eastern city of Turnitz on Wednesday morning and had planned to kill himself and a large number of people.
Plot to Attack Taylor Swift Concert
The head of the domestic intelligence agency, Omar Hazavi Pirchner, said the suspect intended to attack with explosives and knives. His aim was to kill himself and a large number of people during the event.
Suspects’ Background
The other two suspects, aged 17 and 15, were also taken into custody. The 17-year-old worked for a facilities company that provides services to concert venues and was arrested near the stadium shortly after the attack. He had recently broken up with his girlfriend.
Very little is known about the 15-year-old suspect. His involvement in the alleged plot is still under investigation. All three suspects are Austrian-born and their ethnic backgrounds are either Turkish or Macedonian.
