For the fourth year in a row, the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals (BAVP) organizes from the end of September and during October 2023 International Mavruda Day. The annual wine event contributes to the promotion of Bulgarian wine and wine tourism among local and foreign consumers.
What should we expect?
This year, the International Mavruda Day is celebrated in our country with as many as four two-day city wine festivals in Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Varna and Plovdiv.
The last festival for 2023 – Urban Wine Fest – Plovdiv 2023, will take place this weekend – October 21 and 22, in the center of Plovdiv, overpass over Gladstone Street.
Wine lovers from Plovdiv and guests of the city will be able to get acquainted with over 40 wines of local varieties presented by wine experts and will be able to enjoy delicious street food at Bar Samar on wheels, Regi’s Street Food by Chef Badev and Vino & Tapas . The magical sounds of the Plovdiv Wind Orchestra and the music selected by DJ Manev will contribute to the real festive mood.
For the events, the organizers have chosen a representative selection of wines, which will be actively offered to visitors in the form of tasting sets, by the glass or by the bottle.
The main selection of wines for the four festivals includes 36 labels of 34 wine cellars from all wine regions of Bulgaria: sparkling wines, whites, rosés, oranges, reds. Some of them are organic or natural. It is especially interesting that they will be able to try wines from 17 Bulgarian varieties!
In each of the festivals, 5 wines from regional wineries will be included in the main selection, so in total at each of the events, wine lovers will have the opportunity to taste 41 wines.
Entrance is free, and consumption and tastings are paid on the spot in cash or by card.
On October 21, City Wine Festival Plovdiv 2023 awaits visitors from 12:00 to 21:00, and on October 22 – from 11:00 to 18:00.
Urban Wine Fest Plovdiv 2023 is an initiative of the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals and is held under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism, with the official support of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Municipality of Plovdiv. The event is financed by the “Annual Tourism Development Program of the Municipality of Plovdiv for 2023”.
