Kev Adams came out of his silence, a few hours after the controversy over the animated film “Plush” (plush, in English). For the record, nearly a year after its launch, this animated film project, supposed to be released last winter, is at a standstill. The 770 people who bought NFTs to fund it, last May and June, lost almost all of their stake, revealed Mediapart this Monday. The total damage amounts to approximately 1.5 million euros. It is in this context that the comedian and actor commented on this case via his Twitter account.

“Friends, I’m not used to responding to controversies. But there, given the magnitude, it seems important to me to clarify things. I was contacted in 2021 about a participatory animated feature film project. The idea was simple: I had to lend my voice to a potential cartoon and promote it. In other words: practice my profession. THAT’S ALL” he hammers in capital letters.

“The concept was new, modern, cool, and the idea of sharing a film with people appealed to me. I made sure of the seriousness of the project, I even spoke at length with the studios (which were supposed to produce and manufacture the film). I was confident, surrounded by professionals. I later understood that their project was too ambitious and unsuited to the NFT and cinema market,” adds the “Aladdin” actor.

“I signed up for nothing. I specify that on my side there was no remuneration. The principle for me was to be paid only if the film was made”, still justifies the former actor of the series “Soda”.

“I regret that people today feel wronged or betrayed. Contrary to what some articles make believe I am not the “brain” of an operation or any scam. I just agreed to lend my voice to an animated film. And I find myself today at the heart of a controversy that calls into question my integrity and my honesty vis-à-vis my audience, ”concludes the actor.

Kev Adams and one of the representatives of Plush NFT, behind all this “business plan”, who calls himself “Fabi”, deny any scam since the beginning of this affair. But Plush’s social media accounts have been inactive since last September or even August. The project forum has been closed to comments. “Fabi” claims to have himself lost money in the failure of this sale, linked according to him to the collapse of cryptocurrencies.

Mediapart also reveals that “Fabi” is Fabien Tref, a cryptocurrency investor who would live in Dubai. It is also a friend of Kev Adams who would have financed, in July 2020, his birthday in a sumptuous villa which dominates the bay of Cannes. This “big player”, particularly in poker, would have attracted the attention of Tracfin by the extent of his cash bets, and was banned from the casino. The film meanwhile should not see the light of day.
