Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has formed a three-member committee to probe the security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ferozepur in Punjab. Sudhir Kumar Saxena, secretary (security) in the cabinet secretariat, will lead the probe. IB Joe. Director Balbir Singh and SPG IG S Suresh are the other members of the committee. It has been directed to complete the investigation and submit it to the government as soon as possible.

Protests erupted against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Punjab for campaigning in the run-up to the Assembly elections. The protest took place during a march to the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Hussainwala. With this, the Prime Minister’s convoy was stuck in a flyover for 20 minutes.

The Union Home Ministry has blamed the Punjab government for the security breach. BJP national president JP Nadda has accused the Punjab government of deliberately trying to sabotage a program for the prime minister. However, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said the confusion was due to the last-minute decision of the Prime Minister to travel by helicopter.
