SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) – The Police Ombudsman’s Office opened a procedure to monitor the investigation of alleged attacks committed by military and civil police officers against a group of students from a municipal school in the Jabaquara region, in the south zone of São Paulo, in November 7th.

According to the police report, around 15 police officers participated in the action. Six students between 14 and 16 years old were allegedly attacked. One of them reported to school agents that, after being taken to a room inside a police station, he had a cigarette put out on his shoulder by a civil police officer.

In a statement, the SSP (Public Security Secretariat) stated that the case is being investigated by the 97th DP (Americanópolis) and the Military Police.

The confusion would have started around 10:30 am on the 7th. After a test, the students were dismissed early due to the lack of electricity and water at the school after the storm on the 3rd.

Outside the unit, a group of students reportedly started an argument. A woman who was passing by decided to record the scene, which upset some teenagers, and there was a brief argument between them.

The woman left the scene, but reportedly called the Military Police. As stated in the police report, she said that students would be stealing from each other.

A first team of PMs arrived at the address. According to witnesses, two police officers got out of the vehicle with an extremely brutal approach, attacking six students. One of them would have been a prime target and ended up injured, including in the face.

Witnesses also said that one of the police officers had removed the body camera that was attached to his uniform at the time of the attacks. According to the SSP, the police officer’s camera came off his jacket – the justification, according to the ministry, is based on records captured by another PM’s equipment.

According to a document prepared by the Civil Police two days after the incident, some students entered the school again to report the arrest of the young man who had been attacked. Employees then went out into the street and observed that the number of police officers at the school door was already greater than the number of students involved in the confusion, according to what was recorded in the police report.

In an attempt to resolve the conflict, school agents asked the police to let the boy enter the school. It was at that moment that a group of 15 police officers “invaded” the unit, under the command of a lieutenant, to arrest the teenager for contempt.

The police officers placed the handcuffed young man in the back of a vehicle and took him to the 26th DP (Sacomã).

School employees who also went to the police station reported that they were received hostilely by the police chief. After some time, the delegate released the parties without registering a police report.

Outraged by the situation, school staff and students went to the 97th DP (Americanópolis) on November 9th to register the incident. The document mentions that the young man who was attacked and arrested left the police station without his warm shirt, without his sneaker laces and with his hair disheveled.

According to the police report, the teenager reported that his clothes were removed and he was attacked again inside the 26th DP. Upon leaving the police station, he showed school officials the mark on his shoulder that was allegedly caused by a lit cigarette.
The SSP states that the conduct of the 26th DP delegate is being investigated.

Also according to the incident report registered at the 97th DP, the school community is afraid, since the police officers who participated in the action were frequently passing by the school.
