They were certainly only fourteen in the ranks of the Prix Karcimont, but this Sunday quinté nevertheless looked quite proud with in particular two placed in the recent Prix du President of the Republic: Special swagger (#6) and Echo of Champdoux (#3). These two could not respond, the first being notably dominated and the second falling at halfway. On a track softened by the rains of the day, it is Marshal Desjy (8) who proved to be the strongest at the end of an uncompromising race.
Winner of two races this year, this 5-year-old gelding tripled the bet with real casualness to the great satisfaction of his mentor Hugo Mérienne: “It’s great! It’s a horse that came back from England and with which we took our time. He was granted a break after the Cagnes-sur-Mer meeting. It was particularly beneficial to him. His task will become more complicated on the scale of values. It’s obvious. We’ll see how the program continues…” It was eight lengths and slowed down by his pilot, Nicolas Gauffenic, that the winner cleared this fine handicap.
Showly (n°7), ridden not far from the lead, kept a clear second place. As for Paris Brest (n°9), it resisted at least Blackfield (#10) for third place. Mounted at the forefront in a very rhythmic race, Distinguished Guest (No. 11), the favorite, completes the arrival of the quinté. A race in which only half of the fourteen starters completed the course.
To note that The Plougastellen (n°2), Gai Luron (n°4), Treasure Park (#12) and Hervé du Seuil (n°14) also ejected their jockey while Polished (#5) and Trendy (n°14) were unable to complete their course.
