Between two trotting flushes, gallopers were in the spotlight this afternoon at the Cagnes-sur-Mer racecourse (Alpes-Maritimes). Reserved only for 4-year-olds and contested on the 2,000 m course of the fiber sand track, the event serving as a medium for pay-per-view bets was won with ease by Louis of Bavaria (#16). In the saddle on this resident of Jean-Claude Rouget, Coralie Pacaut did not bother with tactics by taking the best right out of the starting stalls. Threatened mid-straight by the favourite, Peter the Great (n°14), Louis of Bavaria did not abdicate rallying the finish disc with two lengths ahead of the protege of Fabrice Vermeulen. “His partner took advantage of his very good number in the starting boxes. He came back in good shape and is particularly happy on the sand. Everything went well. I am delighted with this success,” said his trainer, Jean-Claude Rouget.
More than three lengths from the leading duo, Pump Pump Junior (n°7), quickly noticed in a good place, confirms its current great form despite a heavy penalty on the scale of values following its recent three consecutive victories. He is clearly ahead of the outsider, Cortez Bank (#15) and Martial Art (n°13) which complete, in this order, the arrival of the fifth.
