Satisfying the financial needs of the agricultural sector, in viable ways, is an inevitable topic on the agricultural development policy agenda. However, the National Agricultural Census (CAN 2022) revealed significant decreases in access to credit, according to the Union of Production Guilds (UGP).

Access to credit had a significant impact on the variation in the number of farms that obtained financing for agricultural purposes, with notable decreases in different institutions: cooperatives (43%), Agricultural Habilitation Credit (57%), Livestock Fund (63%) ), banks/financial institutions (65%), and others (87%). While in the case of the National Development Bank there was an increase.

MICRO AND SMALL PRODUCERS

“In accordance with its role of contributing to financial inclusion, the loans granted by the institution are aimed at small producers and rural micro-entrepreneurs,” explained María del Carmen Meza, president of the Agricultural Habilitation Credit (CAH).
