Comalapa, Chalatenango, The motorist of the bus on route 126 that serves Chalatenango was captured this afternoon, Saturday, December 23, as responsible for the death of at least four passengers traveling in his unit.
This morning, the aforementioned bus overturned in the Los Guevaritas hamlet, El Morro canton, Comalapa, due to the high speed with which Manuel Enrique Navarro Rivera was driving the bus. In the same accident, 18 more passengers were injured, some seriously.
Salvadoran Red Cross, Salvadoran Green Cross, El Salvador Firefighters and Civil Protection came to help the victims, police sources said. Navarro Rivera will be prosecuted for manslaughter and negligent injuries, authorities added.
The sources indicated that most of the injured people were taken to various health centers in Chalatenango, while two victims were transferred to San Salvador, due to the severity of the injuries.
Meanwhile, Cruz Rosa Salvadoreña reported that the injured treated by its units at the scene were identified as María Tránsito Mancía Portillo, Roberto Rodríguez Ayala, 74 and 73 years old respectively; Ana Roxana Mirna de Ramos, Oscar Manuel Cruz, María Mejía López and Edgardo León, 46, 44, 43 and 44 years old, respectively.
Other injured are José Jesús Ramos, José René Oliva and Feliciano Antonio Melgar, aged 50, 52 and 52, respectively; Gabriela Lissette Bolaños, Joseline Calle, Abel Edgardo Rivas and Beatriz Alas, 20, 25, 24 and 25 years old, respectively; Zoila Rivas de Flores, 60, the minors, Roberto Roble and Idalia Jiménez, 16 and 10 years old; as well as a person identified only with the last name Cardoza.
