Islamabad: To compete with India, the Pakistani Navy has inducted two new warships. These include corvette PNS Babur and offshore patrol warship PNS Hunain. Both these warships were inducted in the dockyard in Karachi. During this, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari was present. PNS Babur is a multipurpose warship and it has been built by Turkey. On the other hand, PNS Hunain has been built by Romania. During this, the Pakistani President said that there is a need to increase naval power in the Indian Ocean. He said that both these warships are equipped with ultra-modern weapons and sensors. Pakistan’s Navy Chief praised its military relationship with Turkey. During this, Turkey’s Deputy Minister of National Security was also present. The inclusion of these warships can increase tension for India in the Indian Ocean.
Pakistan’s PN MILGEM program includes 4 warships. Out of these, 2 warships are to be built in Istanbul Shipyard. Turkey is helping Pakistan in taking this project forward. Analysts say that this warship can perform all kinds of military responsibilities. It can perform responsibilities ranging from air defense to submarine defense. What is the strength of this warship, it has not been told to the world. In the year 2019, Admiral Abbasi of the Pakistani Navy had said that these warships of the Pakistani Navy have also been installed with 16 vertical launch systems. Apart from this, a main gun has been installed.
PNS Babur is equipped with cruise missile
It is believed that Turkey has equipped the Babur warship with the Albatross NG air defense system and Harbah anti-ship and land attack missiles of the European company MBDA. 6 anti-ship cruise missiles can be installed in it. LM2500 gas turbine has been installed in this MILGEM warship. It is both diesel and gas turbine. Turkey’s Ada class multi-purpose corvette can carry out many types of missions. This includes espionage, surveillance, anti-submarine warfare, surface to surface and surface to air warfare.
