Podcast. Can Pap Ndiaye raise a school in crisis?

by time news

It was the test of fire for the new Minister of National Education, Pap Ndiaye: the start of the school year. Indeed, if it went well overall, thanks to the massive use of contract teachers, the school is going through multiple crises: shortage of teachers, devaluation of the profession or even deterioration of working conditions.

After a first five-year term which ended with an unprecedented crisis of confidence between teachers and their ex-minister, Emmanuel Macron therefore chose a profile at odds with that of Jean-Michel Blanquer. Historian, civil rights specialist in the United States and thinker on the question of minorities in France, Pap Ndiaye will have the difficult task of restoring a link that had been broken between the Ministry of National Education and teachers.

What are the projects of the new minister? Can a bond of trust be re-established with teachers? Will all students have teachers facing them in class?

In this episode of the “L’Heure du Monde” podcast, Sylvie Lecherbonnier, a journalist specializing in education in Mondeexplains to us how the choice of Pap Ndiaye was symbolic, and controversial, and details the projects that await the minister this year.
