What does Berlusconi intend to do with ProSiebenSat.1?
A new CEO will take office at the television and digital group ProSiebenSat.1 in November. It is said that this has nothing to do with the growing influence of Holding Media for Europe (MFE). Silvio Berlusconi’s family is behind MFE.

The television group ProSiebenSat.1 will have a new boss in November – manager Bert Habets will take over Rainer Beaujean’s job. Habets was previously a member of the supervisory board, now the former head of RTL Group is moving to the post of CEO. The change at the top of the group comes as a surprise – even if the Munich-based company’s share price has been at a low level for some time and should not make the owners happy.
The new appointment again raises the question of what plan co-owner Media for Europe (MFE) is pursuing. The Berlusconi family is behind the holding and the media company Mediaset is also organized here. MFE controls around a quarter of the voting rights in ProSiebenSat.1. Manager Katharina Behrends has just been appointed as head of MFE in the German-speaking countries. In this issue of “Media Week” we talk about the situation at ProSiebenSat.1.
We also consider why Elon Musk now wants to buy Twitter for the promised price of $44 billion – and what that means. Most recently, Musk had not looked good in the run-up to a process to take over the platform, experts had predicted a defeat in the Delaware court.
Finally, we read in a “discussion” between ARD chairman Tom Buhrow and media manager Julia Jäkel in “Zeit” how the reform of public service broadcasting could succeed and what politics would have to do.
The “Media Week” is a podcast about the world of media and its makers. Christian Meier, editor at WELT, and Stefan Winterbauer, editor-in-chief of the industry service Meedia, talk about the most important topics of the week every Friday. Background, analytical, entertaining.
