Where does the conspiracy and racist theory of the “great replacement” come from? This expression, introduced in 2010 by the far-right writer Renaud Camus, has been taken up by militant identity spheres and more recently by the far-right candidate Eric Zemmour.
However, if its increasingly frequent use on television sets is recent, the idea of the submersion of a decadent civilization by barbarians goes back to Antiquity and has crossed the ages.
