Podcast. Tutankhamun, star of the pharaohs

by time news

It was an extraordinary discovery. A little over a hundred years ago, in November 1922, an English archaeologist, Howard Carter, unearthed a treasure buried for over thirty-two centuries: the tomb of Tutankhamun.

The images of his sarcophagus and his golden mask quickly go around the world. This pharaoh, hitherto unknown to the general public, becomes the face of ancient Egypt. Even today, he continues to fascinate, and each of the exhibitions dedicated to him attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors. However, his name could well have been forgotten: his successors sought to erase it.

In this episode of the “L’Heure du Monde” podcast, Pierre Barthélémy, journalist in the Sciences du Mondetells us the epic of Tutankhamun, who became the star of the pharaohs.

An episode of Adelaide Tenaglia. Production and music: Amandine Robillard. Presentation and editor-in-chief: Morgane Tual.
