There is again division in the Government. This time for the ‘Rubiales case’. The performance of the Higher Sports Council depends on Miquel Iceta, Minister of Culture and Sport, the body that the PSOE is in charge of. And the way of acting of this has not liked Sumar, the other part of the Government. Yolanda Díaz has accused the Socialists of being “slow” in the process, an accusation from which the Podemos sector stands out.
In all this controversy and in the response that the Government has given, Irene Montero, acting Minister of Equality, has positioned herself on the scales in favor of the PSOE. Montero has said that “the government had an obligation to act forcefully,” something for which “there are times and procedures.”
With the PSOE’s response and the support of Podemos, only Sumar’s position remains. And this is where the discrepancy comes in. Marta Lois, spokesperson for Sumar, has indicated that “they could have left faster” from the CSD, just as she says that they could have been “more diligent.”
The Government takes chest out of its management
The part of the Government defends its management of the ‘Rubiales case’ and argues that it was necessary to be scrupulous with the actions that were carried out. Although Sumar does not think the same, the organizations are already making decisions and the Government is waiting for the resolution of the TAD, which studies the complaints presented.
Meanwhile, the president of the CSD, Víctor Francos, has been very critical of Luis Rubiales and of the applause of a large part of the assembly after his speech: “I did not like the applause.” Francos has also sent a direct message to the still president of the RFEF: “You should have left on Friday.” But the future of Rubiales, although it is increasingly complicated by the lack of support from the institutions and the territorial Federations, remains in the air pending the decision of the TAD.
