Tehran: Iran’s religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that the case of poisoning of schoolgirls is unforgivable, and if it is confirmed that the poisoning was intentional, the perpetrators should be sentenced to death.

Schoolgirls in the Qom area of ​​Iran’s capital, Tehran, have been suffering from health problems for the past three months. Many of the students suffering from abdominal pain, headache, vomiting and difficulty in breathing are being admitted to hospitals and receiving treatment. Medical examination revealed that they had pus in their body. Iran’s Ministry of Education also confirmed that the students were poisoned. It is reported that the poison may have been given through food or air.

It was reported in the media that religious fundamentalists were responsible for this and that poison was given to the girls to prevent them from studying. Following this, the issue was discussed internationally. Speaking about this issue, Iran’s religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said, “The authorities should take serious action regarding the issue of poisoning of students. “If the students were deliberately poisoned, the criminals who committed this unforgivable crime should be given death penalty,” he said.
