Pokémon HOME Adds FireRed and LeafGreen Compatibility in Version 4.1.0

Pokémon HOME version 4.1.0 is now live on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, introducing official cross-compatibility with Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen alongside a free Mythical Celebi reward, increased storage limits for premium users, and new Safari Ball transfer support from Pokémon GO.

Trainers managing their collections across multiple generations have finally received the long-awaited tool to bridge classic Game Boy Advance titles with modern platforms. The Version 4.1.0 software rollout required the cloud application to go offline for scheduled maintenance before launching the new transfer architecture.

Connecting FireRed and LeafGreen to Pokémon HOME

Players can now connect their Nintendo Switch systems to transfer creatures caught in the Kanto remakes directly into the cloud storage application. Once deposited into the cloud hub, however, those pocket monsters face strict one-way transit rules.

“Once a Pokémon from Pokémon FireRed Version or Pokémon LeafGreen Version is moved into Pokémon HOME, it will be unable to return to Pokémon FireRed Version or Pokémon LeafGreen Version. Pokémon from other games in the series will be unable to visit Pokémon FireRed Version or Pokémon LeafGreen Version.”

The Pokémon Company

The original 2004 releases arrived on the Game Boy Advance, serving as the very first remakes in the franchise and taking players back to the Kanto Region alongside a brand-new area known as the Sevii Islands. After defeating the Elite Four and entering the Hall of Fame in these games, players find that a Mystic Ticket allowing encounters with the Legendary Pokémon Lugia and Ho-Oh, as well as an Aurora Ticket for the Mythical Pokémon Deoxys, are automatically added to their bag’s Key Items pocket.

Claiming the Free Level 50 Celebi Reward

To celebrate the compatibility milestone, players who complete the Kanto regional Pokédex can claim a free Level 50 Mythical Celebi directly through the mobile version of the application. The verification process runs automatically through server-side detection, meaning users do not need to physically shuttle every specimen into the cloud storage interface to trigger the gift.

According to industry coverage detailing the event, completing the list does not require capturing Mew, making this one of the most accessible Mythical distributions in the history of the series. Trainers can also use the Global Trade System within the mobile software to trade with online peers and fill missing entries.

Expanding Storage Caps and Pokémon GO Integration

Beyond the GBA integration, the update delivers quality-of-life adjustments for active collectors. Subscribers enrolled in a paid Premium Plan see their maximum box capacity climb from 6,000 to 9,000 slots without any adjustments to the subscription pricing structure.

Trainers can now transfer specimens caught using a Safari Ball in mobile titles into the cloud environment, where the specialized capture item automatically converts into a Strange Ball upon arrival.
