Pokémon Won $15 Million Plagiarism Lawsuit

The Pokémon Company won the case just a few days ago but the legal battle had started in December 2021, when The Pokémon Company had denounced six Chinese companies who had collaborated and published in 2015 a Pokémon RPG game for mobilefrom the name Pocket Monster Reissuealso known as Koudaiyaoguai Fuke. The work contained an obvious plagiarism of some of the most important characters in the Pokémon world, such as Ash Ketchum and Pikachu. Pocket Monster Reissue would have received, among other things, a huge response among players, reaching the point of earning 42 million dollars in just one year.

Pokémon Won  Million Plagiarism Lawsuit

According to The Pokémon Company, the Shenzhen Court of Justicen ha the charges were found valid presented and sentenced one of the accused companies to pay compensation equal to 107 million yuan (approximately 13 million euros o 15 million dollars) for the damages that The Pokémon Company would have suffered. Three other of the six companies accused have been found liable, but have already declared that they will appeal.
