Today, the famous Azerbaijani performer, composer and actor, political and public figure, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia, holder of state awards, orders of Heydar Aliyev, Independence, Honor, For Service to the Fatherland, state awards of Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Moldova, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Polad Bulbuloglu turned 79 years old, Day.Az reports with reference to Trend.

Polad Bulbuloglu was born on February 4, 1945 in Baku. Father Murtuza Mamedov, known as Bulbul, a famous opera singer, People’s Artist of the USSR, was born in Shusha. Mother Adelaida Mamedova was an active public figure and later worked as director of the Bulbul Memorial Museum.

Polad Bulbuloglu spent his childhood and youth both in Baku and in the city of Shusha, which is the “conservatory of the Caucasus.” In 1960 he first appeared on the big stage as his father’s accompanist. By the age of 17, he composed his first songs: “Song about Moscow”, “Song about Sumgait”, “From the first date”, “Good morning!”. He also wrote several songs for his childhood friend Muslim Magomayev.

After graduating from music school in piano, he entered the Azerbaijan State Conservatory named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, where from 1963 to 1968 he studied in the composition class of the great composer Gara Garayev.

Polad Bulbuloglu won the hearts of a huge audience not only with his stunning unique vocals, but also with his virtuosity of performance. He quickly managed to discover his own unique style. He created a whole direction in Soviet pop music, combining modern rhythms and harmonies with bright national melodicism, which became an example to follow for the next generation of musicians. Already at the age of 24 he became a member of the USSR Composers and the USSR Cinematographers’ Union.

The compositional creativity of Polad Bulbul oglu is diverse. His creative work includes major symphonic works, chamber instrumental music, musicals, vocal cycles, music for films and dramatic performances. Among the works, a special place belongs to the ballet “Love and Death”.

His compositions were performed by masters of the national stage, including Joseph Kobzon. Lev Leshchenko and others. Performed hits “My Azerbaijan”, “Gəl, ey səhər”, “Sheikh”, “Call”, “How we lived fighting”, “How should I be”, “Dolalai”, “Because you love me”, “Your road” “, “Oh, this girl.” and others are still on everyone’s lips to this day. Moreover, his work has become a source of inspiration for new generations of artists.

There were filming and music for more than 20 films. Success also accompanied him in cinema, and not only as a composer of music, but also as an actor, especially in the film “Don’t be afraid, I’m with you.”

For many years he performed as a singer and composer, actively promoting Azerbaijani musical culture. In 1976 he headed the “State Variety Ensemble of the Azerbaijan SSR”. He led pop groups of the republic. He toured the entire Soviet Union with concerts and visited more than 70 countries around the world.

Since 1987, for several years he was the director and artistic director of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic. In 1988 he became the Minister of Culture of the Azerbaijan SSR.

With Azerbaijan gaining independence, he took the post of Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan. In 1995, he was elected to the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan. In 1994, he was elected the first general director of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), then re-elected three times (1997, 2000 and 2003). On his initiative, numerous books by classics of literature from Turkic-speaking countries and educational literature were published.

In 2002, he became chairman of the Council for Cultural Cooperation of the Ministers of Culture of the CIS countries.

He is a Doctor of Art History at the National Creative Academy of the Azerbaijan Republic, an honorary professor at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, and a full member of the Europe-Asia International Humanitarian Academy.

In February 2000, a personalized star was unveiled on the “Star Square” in Moscow.

In 2006, he was appointed Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia. And he continues to be creative, creates works, and takes part in various significant cultural events.
