jpnn.com – PARIS – Poland became the first team to enter the semifinals of the men’s volleyball at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The world number one entered the top 4 after defeating Slovenia (world number three) in the quarter finals held at the South Paris Arena, Monday (5/8) afternoon WIB.
Poland menang 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20).
Polish outside hitter Wilfredo Leon was the top scorer with 20 points, including five aces.
Opposite Polska Bartosz Kurek, the only player on the squad to appear in the last three seasons, also played a key role, scoring 19 points.
With victory in the quarter-finals, Poland is set to make its third appearance in the Olympic semifinals and its first since Moscow 1980.
In the semifinals, Poland will face the winner of the Brazil vs United States match.
Meanwhile, the other semifinals will feature the winners of Italy vs Japan and France vs Germany. (adk/jpnn/vw)
