It was assumed that the investigations carried out in the village of Przewodów in Poland would last several hours, but they are already delivering their first lessons. The Polish Foreign Ministry confirmed overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday that a “Russian-made projectile” reached the territory of this NATO country, killing two people.
“At 3:40 p.m. (local time), in the village of Przewodów (…), a Russian-made projectile fell, killing two citizens of the Republic of Poland,” according to a statement by Lukasz Jasina, the ministry’s spokesperson, reporting that the Russian ambassador was summoned for “detailed explanations”.

These statements do not mean that the said missile was fired by Russian forces. The Ukrainian army has Russian equipment in its arsenal. What the Polish authorities take into account. In a press release, the presidency adds that it does not have “unambiguous proof” of who launched the murderous projectile.
Nevertheless, the authorities decided to summon the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to obtain “detailed explanations”. The Polish army has raised the alert level of some of its military units. However, the Prime Minister took care to call on the Polish population to calm down.
From Wednesday morning, NATO ambassadors will hold a meeting under Article 4 of the NATO treaty, which stipulates that consultations can be held when a member of the Alliance considers that its “territorial integrity, political independence or security” are threatened. Russia, for its part, formally denies being at the origin of these explosions, denouncing a provocation “with the aim of creating an escalation of the situation”.
