Poland denies involvement in Nord Stream bombing /

“Poland has not participated anywhere. It must be clearly stated that this is a lie,” Gavkovskis emphasized in a conversation with the TV channel “Polsat News”.

Previously, the former head of Germany’s foreign intelligence service BND, August Hanning, who held this position from 1998 to 2005, accused Poland of cooperating with Ukraine in the bombing of the Nord Stream pipelines.

Kyiv has also categorically denied its involvement in this act of sabotage.

“It looks like, according to the results of the investigation, it was a Ukrainian team that operated,” Hanning said in an interview with “Die Welt” newspaper.

“It is quite obvious that the Polish authorities were involved,” added the former head of the BND, who called on the German government to demand compensation from Warsaw and Kyiv.

Gavkovski categorically denied these accusations.

“In my opinion, Russian disinformation resonates through the words of German politicians,” said the Polish Vice Prime Minister.

“Either they act [Maskavas] affects whether they are aware that this will lead to a split between NATO members,” the Polish politician added.

The Polish Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to AFP on Wednesday that it had received a German warrant for the arrest of a Ukrainian citizen in connection with the Nord Stream bombing.

However, Warsaw has announced that the suspect had already left Poland before it was possible to arrest him.

Ukraine, on the other hand, announced on Thursday that the allegations about Kyiv’s involvement in the bombing of gas pipelines, which were published by the “Wall Street Journal” newspaper, are “complete nonsense”.

The gas pipelines that connected Russia and Germany through the Baltic Sea bed even before Russia’s repeated invasion of Ukraine provoked political and economic objections, especially from Eastern European countries, which pointed out that they only increase Europe’s dependence on Russian natural gas and reduce its energy security.

Berlin, which for a long time ignored the warnings from Washington, after Russia’s repeated invasion of Ukraine, was finally forced to partially listen to them and at least slow down the commissioning of “Nord Stream 2”.

However, the explosion of both pipelines in September 2022 buried this cherished project of Berlin and Moscow forever.
