Poland Projected to Rank Third Globally in Ultra-Wealthy Growth

Poland is projected to rank third globally in the growth of its ultra-wealthy population between 2026 and 2031, according to data from Knight Frank. During this five-year period, the number of individuals in Poland with a net worth of at least $30 million is expected to expand by 62.6%.

Poland Ranks Third Globally in Ultra-Wealthy Growth

Only Indonesia, with an 81.7% projected increase, and Saudi Arabia, with 63.2%, outpace Poland in the latest forecast, leaving Poland just 0.6 percentage points behind the second spot. The global ranking measures the rate of population growth among the ultra-rich rather than total wealth or absolute headcounts, focusing on countries with more than 500 individuals meeting the $30 million threshold in 2026. By 2031, the number of ultra-wealthy individuals in Poland is expected to approach 4,900, averaging nearly one new person entering this wealth bracket every day. Meanwhile, the number of Polish billionaires is projected to increase from 13 to 29.

Poland Fuels Record Wealth Accumulation

German daily Berliner Zeitung noted that no other country recorded an equivalent velocity of new fortunes of this scale in such a short timeframe. The rapid multiplication of large fortunes in Poland builds upon a previous surge between 2021 and 2026, when the country’s population of individuals possessing over $30 million grew by approximately 109%, according to figures cited by Portal Spożywczy from Bloomberg. This prior growth rate ranked first globally among analyzed nations, a milestone also highlighted by the British firm Knight Frank in its Wealth Report, which noted an increase from 1,442 individuals in 2021 to 3,017 in 2026, as reported by Europe Says.

Between 2021 and 2026, the Polish zloty strengthened by 12.7% against the US dollar, while cumulative inflation reached 32.5%. Because wealth thresholds are denominated in dollars, a stronger currency and rising prices mechanically lifted asset values, though real GDP also grew by about 16% over the same period alongside rising company valuations and European Union-funded investments. Analysts also attribute part of the historical jump to nominal economic factors. Observers point out that Poland benefits from a low base effect, starting with a relatively small cohort of ultra-high-net-worth individuals compared to major Western economies, making rapid percentage gains easier to achieve.

Business Leaders Protect Growing Fortunes

The top of the Forbes ranking of the 100 richest Poles features Michał Sołowow with an estimated fortune of approximately 27.6 billion zlotys tied to businesses such as Synthos and Cersanit, followed by Tomasz Biernacki, founder of the Dino retail chain. Poland’s wealthiest individuals stem from diverse sectors, ranging from raw materials to digital finance.

Since the introduction of tax preferences for family foundations in 2023, more than 4,000 such entities have been established in Poland. As these fortunes have expanded, safeguarding and diversifying assets has become a priority. Wealthy families increasingly establish private wealth management offices and hire specialists from international banks and advisory firms to address asset concentration risks within the domestic market.
