Poland and its allies scrambled planes, citing as the reason what Warsaw said was the activity of Russian long-range aviation. This was stated by the operational command of the Armed Forces (AF) of Poland, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

“We would like to inform you that there is intensive activity of long-range aviation of the Russian Federation <...>. We warn that Polish and allied aircraft have been activated, which may lead to increased noise levels, especially in the south-eastern part of the country,” the command said in a message on X (formerly Twitter).

This is the second time this month that the Polish Armed Forces have applied such a measure. At the end of December last year, the operational command reported that Polish air borders were violated by an unknown object. Later, Polish President Andrzej Duda convened an emergency meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense. The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wieslaw Kukula, claimed that a Russian missile was in the country’s airspace. Based on the results of their inspection of the area where the missile was spotted flying into the airspace from the Ukrainian side, Polish military personnel did not find anything that posed a threat.
