Warsaw: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Poland has been completed and now he has left for Ukraine. PM Modi’s visit to Poland has been very special. This is the first visit of an Indian PM to Poland after 45 years. This visit of PM Modi is opening the doors of opportunity for Indians. After his visit began, Polish politician and member of the European Parliament Dariusz Jonski said in a statement that his country needs 25000 doctors, nurses and healthcare specialists. This demand for healthcare workers in Poland will create job opportunities for thousands of Indians. Talking to news agency ANI, he said, ‘We would like to talk about health care. We need about 25000 doctors and health specialists. If some doctors and specialists would like to learn the Polish language and pass the exam, then we can talk about it, so that they can work here. We would like to talk about the IT sector because Poland is in the top five and we would like to cooperate with Indian companies.’

Indian companies are present in Poland

India and Poland have substantial bilateral trade, worth about $6 billion, according to the Indian Foreign Ministry. This makes Poland India’s largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe. Indian investment in Poland is about $3 billion, while Polish investment in India is about $1 billion. Several Indian companies operate in Poland in various sectors, including information technology, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and electronics.

Indians live in Poland

About 30 Polish companies are doing business in India. Some of them have set up manufacturing plants in sectors such as hygiene products, cosmetics, metal packaging. Talking about the relations between the two countries, direct flights started between India and Poland in 2019. A large number of Indians live in Poland, whose number is around 25000. Out of these, 5000 are students. Poland helped in evacuating more than 4000 students from Ukraine through Operation Ganga in 2022.
