Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has been unable to recall Polish Ambassador to the United States Marek Magierowski for a long time. This was reported by the internet portal WPolityce.pl, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

“Magerovsky has been at the embassy in the US for six years now, and usually the Polish ambassador works [за рубежом] 3-4 years. He is a specialist in Latin America, knows Spanish. We offered him two jobs – in Argentina and Chile, but he refused,” the portal quotes the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“This is a really big gesture on the part of the ministry. [иностранных дел]but he, unfortunately, chose a different path,” Sikorsky added.

Magierowski’s contract with the Polish Foreign Ministry expires on November 23, 2025. In connection with this, the diplomat demanded compensation in the amount of approximately 1 million zlotys (about $254.4 thousand) for his salary due to him until that date in exchange for his agreement to leave the post of ambassador early. Radosław Sikorski had previously called Magierowski’s demand “scandalous”.

Polish President Andrzej Duda objects to the termination of Magierowski’s powers. He also refuses to approve the candidacy of former Defense Minister Bogdan Klich (2007-2011), whom Radoslaw Sikorski wants to see as the Polish ambassador to the United States.

According to the Polish constitution, a new ambassador of the republic can receive an appointment only after it has been approved and signed by the head of state.
